20 Years of Minnesota-Engineered Concrete Serving Bloomington and the Greater Twin Cities
Bloomington Concrete Experts is the Twin Cities metro’s trusted source for residential and commercial concrete work, backed by more than 20 years of hands-on experience throughout Bloomington and
the surrounding communities. Our core work covers concrete driveways, patios, walkways, foundations, garage slabs, and pool decks for homeowners, and commercial foundations, warehouse and industrial floors, parking lots, ADA-compliant sidewalks, and trip hazard removal for businesses, property managers, and developers — the full range of flatwork and structural concrete a property needs. For homeowners we pour driveways, patios, and walkways that stay level and crack-controlled through Minnesota winters; for business owners, property managers, and developers we build engineered foundations, forklift-rated warehouse floors, parking lots, and code-compliant sidewalks designed around uptime and load. Located minutes from the Mall of America and the busy I-494 corridor, we serve Bloomington, Richfield, Edina, Eden Prairie, Burnsville, Eagan, and Minneapolis with the same licensed crew, the same materials, and the same exacting standards on every project.
What sets our work apart is everything you never see. Cheap crews cut corners on the things beneath the surface — thin slabs, inadequate base compaction, no reinforcement, and joints placed by guesswork — and in this climate those shortcuts surface within a season as scaling, frost heave cracking, and premature settling. We do it the opposite way. Every exterior surface is placed with ACI 318 F3-class air-entrained concrete carrying 6 percent air entrainment and a maximum 0.40 water-cement ratio, over 6 to 8 inches of compacted Class 5 aggregate base engineered for Bloomington’s
clay-heavy glacial soils, with reinforcement and control joints tooled at planned intervals to direct cracking where it belongs. Foundations and footings are set to the 42-inch minimum frost depth Minnesota Rule 1303.1600 requires for Hennepin County Zone II, so they bear below the frost line rather than heaving with it. You can finish surfaces broom, exposed aggregate, or stamped and colored — and we manage Bloomington Building Division and Engineering Division permits and inspections from submission through final sign-off.
For more than 20 years we have worked throughout Bloomington and the Twin Cities metro, and we built this company to strip out everything homeowners and property managers dread about hiring a
concrete contractor — the no-shows, the vague verbal quotes, the surprise charges at the end, and the crew that vanishes the moment the pour is done. Most of our new clients come to us after exactly that experience, so we designed the way we work around that frustration: a real person on the phone, a written itemized estimate with no moving targets, and a finished surface that does precisely what we said it would. That tenure also shows up in the details that outlast the pour. We know the Bloomington Engineering Division’s 24-hour form
inspection requirement for right-of-way work, how the expansive Minnetonka-series clay soils in Bloomington’s low-lying areas behave
differently from the coarser Eden Prairie-series outwash soils in the western neighborhoods, and which surfaces take the worst of the winter road salt — local knowledge a crew driving in from outside the metro simply can’t match. From the mid-century ranch homes around Penn Lake to the newer construction near Hyland Lake Park Reserve, and from office developments in the Normandale Lake District to retail properties in the South Loop near the Mall of America, we’ve worked on concrete in every corner of the city, and the referrals we’ve
relied on for two decades are the result.
Our promise is simple: we treat the base prep and joint layout you’ll never see with the same care as the finish you will. That means a written, itemized estimate on every residential and commercial project within 48 hours of the site visit, with no line items hidden until the end and a number you can actually plan around. It means straight, tooled control joints, accurate grading checked before the pour, crisp edges, clean transitions between old and new concrete, and a site swept and hauled clean at the end of each day. We handle the Bloomington Building Division and Engineering Division permits and inspections so you don’t have to, seal every finished surface with a penetrating silane-siloxane sealer against salt, moisture, and UV, and stand behind our work with a written workmanship warranty covering materials and labor. If you’ve been burned by a contractor before, that’s exactly the experience we built this company to replace — concrete that lasts, done right the first time.
